Students can look for short term contracts and odd jobs via a new online website. You can sign up to wantajob.ie – whether you’re looking for work, or looking for someone to do a job.

CEO Brenda McLoughlin suggests it will be a good resource for students over the summer months:

“Many students will have some free time over the Easter break, or when they come out of college, they might remain mainly in Ireland for the summer. Students often have free time over the course of their term. But if they can’t find permanent employment during the summer break, they can still raise funds for fees and rent if they’re staying here for the few months, by taking on part-time, short-term jobs.”

Even if students are lucky enough to find a job that pays well with plenty of hours, or they have a few hours free a week during the term, they can supplement their income to pay for the high costs of living in Ireland with nixers found on the new resource.

On Want a Job, students can put themselves forward and find deskbound work like translation or localisation, data entry, manual labour jobs like gardening, or bike delivery or courier service roles to supplement their income.

wantaj They may also find – for example – coding, writing or research roles at wantajob.ie – that complement their studies.

You can sign up as a job-poster – if you want a thesis edited or a house cleaner, for instance – or a worker, through a very simple step-by-step method.
