Kanko, originally from the Congo, moved to Ireland a decade ago. She discussed her signature style:
Often it’s African material, mixed in with English or European material and sometimes as well I do special wedding or evening wear in normal materials or European materials but I will often just makes a little bit of African material. This is what I’m wearing today it’s a little bit of English in a bit of African.
The purpose of the Sunrise Foundation is to create awareness of, screening for, and support to those affected by diabetes in society. Its Irish arm hosts an event every World Diabetes Day – a fashion show this year held at Dublin’s Hilton Hotel near the capital’s airport.
The fashion show event – organised by AC Matilda – is a yearly fundraiser for diabetes, and was held on Sunday 13th November. Proceeds from the event will go towards funding the Diabetes Centre at the Mater Hospital, Dublin.
